The Outer Hebrides The Timeless Way describes a 230 mile journey through the islands from the Butt of Lewis in the north to Vatersay in the south using, as far as possible, old tracks and ways. The walk takes you through through this remote and beautiful archipelago with their live Gaelic culture and unique natural environment.

On the way to Vatersay you will walk through the islands of Lewis, Harris, Berneray, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay and Barra. You will the major artificats of the islands' Celtic heritage, come into contact with its crofting economy, experience a unique natural environment and see vast expenses of empty golden beaches and rugged rocky mountains.

Experience the author's unique insight into the islands formed over decades on travelling to and through the islands, refined by detailed historical research and extensive fieldwork.

It is possible to do the whole walk in three weeks but you can split it into island sized, or shorter, sections. The Timeless Way is an experience, an opportunity to get to know each of the inhabited islands in the Outer Hebrides. It is not an endurance test or a challenge to be completed in the shortest possible way. And it doesn't have to be followed slavishly. The book helps you find the way and it can help you find many other ways through the Outer Hebrides.
